In April 2015, The U.S. Department of Justice released a report on violence in the city of Durham. It found that the murder rate of young black men in the city is eight times higher than the national average. Dissatisfied with simply reporting on the deaths of these young men but not doing more to help solve the problem, Arielle reached out to the city's housing authority. What followed was a plan to provide programming to the boys and girls of the Cornwallis Road Housing Community. With the help of the Housing Authority and Durham's Parks Department, Arielle was able to organize several activities for the kids including a trip to Duke University and a Basketball Tournament.
